A classic bottling from the Jack Daniel distillery, the mashbill is made up of 80% corn, 12% rye and 8% malt. The spirit is filtered through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal to produce a mellow, slightly smoky character, thus making it Tennessee whiskey...
Because they do things a little differently in Tennessee – and that’s what gives Jack Daniel’s its distinctive character. At Jack Daniel distillery they charcoal mellow their whiskey drop by drop, then let it age in our own handcrafted barrels. And they don’t follow a calendar. Their Tennessee Sippin’ Whiskey is ready only when their tasters say it is. They use their senses, just like Jack Daniel himself did. In fact, more than a century later, their Tennessee Whiskey is still judged the same way. By the way it looks. By the way it smells. And, of course, by the way it tastes.
Tasting Notes: the nose is quite light and smooth with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke. The palate is quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise. The finish is quite sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.
